Privacy Policy
Your Data, Your Control
We believe in transparency. Here's exactly what data YouTube Danmaku accesses and why.
Data Collection
What the extension accesses
YouTube Danmaku reads content from YouTube pages to display comments as danmaku overlay.
Page Content Access
The extension requires access to YouTube pages to:
- Extract comment text from the page DOM
- Read comment author names for display
- Access comment timestamps for synchronization
- Load hidden iframe comments when available
All extraction happens locally. No comment data is sent to external servers.
Translation Data
When you use the translation feature, comment text is sent to Google Translate API. We don't control this service — it's between you and Google's privacy policy.
Permissions
Browser permissions explained
Each permission is necessary for the extension to function.
Note: We don't use the "webRequest" or "cookies" permissions. We don't track your browsing activity, don't monitor which videos you watch, and don't share any data with third parties.
Third-party Services
External APIs used
Google Translate API
The one-click translation feature uses Google Translate. When you translate a comment, the text is sent to Google's servers. This service is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Browser Extension Stores
When you install from Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons, your download is processed by Google's or Mozilla's infrastructure. Review their respective privacy policies for that process.
